A Real Wedding Story

Well.. the big day came and went.
I married the love of my life on the 28th of March 2015. I wish it I could say the day was like a
fairy tail.. but it wasn't quite that.
I don't think anyone quite prepares you for this day. We watch movies and expect our day to be so perfect.

Well.. I had a pretty small wedding. 36 guests invited. It was such a frantic day, I barely had time to think or talk. I got up and that was it.. full steam ahead. The entire day consisted of running about frantically.
I had planned to get ready at the dressing room provided to us by the registry office on the day. However due to weddings overlapping, was told we could not use the room.
This meant I had to run home, and get ready in 30 minutes.. 30 minutes to do my makeup, get in my dress... everything. Luckily I was trained in the art of fast makeup application, or things could have been tricky!
I didn't think it was possible, but me and my bridesmaids did it.
However one of my poor bridesmaids, who was meeting us at the registry office, had to be escorted to the nearest shopping center bathroom to get herself and my flower girl ready. Suddenly more guests than had been invited arrived, so a few were left standing as I entered the room ready to walk down the isle.

I now became blotchy around my neck and arms as I heard my wedding song start to play... This is what happens to me when I am nervous. I would like to tell you that it was barely noticeable.. but that would be a lie.
I have never experienced nerves such as this.. I couldn't breath half the day.
As it came to the part were we had to repeat our vows to one another, I started to develop an uncontrollable twitch in my lip, this made things hard especially to smile and talk. I cant imagine what people must have thought seeing me stand up there.
The best part was kissing... It was a magical moment for many reasons. Most of all the happiness of knowing I could run out the door!

I am also so lucky that I had an amazing photographer, who, as if by magic made me look incredible on my big day, no blotches, no scary face.. just lots of smiles captured by everyone invited.
It was the best day of my life, not down to how the day panned out but, because I got to marry my best friend and sole mate. He was worth it all.. all the stress, everything!
I am so happy to be Mrs O'Connor.

Happy New Years! :Goal setting and Resolutions

Happy New year everyone!

I spent my new years rolled up in bed with the cold watching TV. It was actually quite refreshing to just be at home just me and my fiance for once, rather than go to a party like we usually would.

I am not the type of person who believes you need to make resolutions for the new year, but creating small reasonable goals is fun. Its nice to think of the year as a fresh new start, and so I do usually try to have goals I would like to accomplish each year.

One of my goals for 2014 was to set a date for my wedding
which I did do.
I have been engaged for a little over 5 years. So I am happy to finally be making plans for my wedding day.

Another one of my goals I accomplished was to join a gym.
This one was a hard one to keep up with, and I feel I could have done better and went to the gym more, and ate a lot more healthily, but I am half way to reaching this goal and it will remain a goal for 2015.

This year I am going to be tougher on myself. My goals are going to be harder to accomplish but I know I can do it.

For 2015 my main goal is to push past my panic and anxiety issues. I have one huge trigger for panic attacks and that's the one I'm going to focus on. Hopefully in 2016 I can say I accomplished my goal and defeated this.
2014 hasn't been the hardest year for my anxiety, I have improved a lot since 2013 (My toughest year) So already I can say I have beaten a lot of what used to trigger panic attacks. If I can do that, just think what I can accomplish this year!

Autumn kinda Day

Threw on a hat to keep my ears warm in the cold, since in Scotland just now its been pretty icy. Today I wore my Rimmel wake me up foundation and concealer. I must say I bought it thinking it wasn't that great, but its grown on me.. I tend to wear it most days. I usually put on the foundation first and then add the concealer where needed, it seems to give a much more flawless finish.
I topped this with a deep pink/plum matt lipstick which is by Revlon in the shade, Cherries in the snow. Perfect name huh! Blusher is the Seek blush by 3 I used the pink shimmer shade (Don't know what its called sorry).
Oh and my necklace was bought on sale in Miss Selfridge.

As I'm sure you know.. I'm still planning my wedding. Although I have finally set the date. On the 28th of March 2015 I will finally marry my fiance'. We have been together for 7 years now so I tell you I have been looking forward to this day for so long. I love buying wedding magazines just now, after all its your one big day. I'm defiantly making the most of it and taking advantage of anything wedding related.

As usual I'm sporting my grey converse, They are just so comfortable for walking around town shopping. Loved the different colours in this pic, couldn't resist a good snap on my phone. Autumn is truly such a pretty time of year.

I bought this scarf while I was out shopping, I obviously put it on right away. Totally adore the colours in it and being Scottish it was just a must!
Scarf is from Primark, was only £5 and its so soft!

Ended up having a little stroll at the park I will probably get my wedding photos done at (weather permitting) It's so pretty seeing the trees change colour, so stunning. This was taken with my new phone, the new Sony Experia. I am liking its picture quality!

The cutest two dalamtions Ive ever seen. They are such amazing dogs to look at, so striking. Just made me want to watch Disney 101 Dalmations! I think I should!!!

Anyway this was pretty much my day in pictures.

Hope you enjoyed this post

Wedding Planning Update 2

I found an amazing website with really pretty dresses at reasonable prices! I wanted to share a few of my favourite dresses ヽ(゜∇゜)ノ

I never thought I would like a satin dress, I always thought It was tacky looking, but this dress is stunning!

I really like the back to this dress and the waist tie. It is also very flattering to the figure! ;)

I find this dress to look very luxurious! As much as I love it, I'm not sure I can pull it off >u< I love lace sleeves though!

This is just very understated, I really love the simplicity of it. I like understated :)

I really like dresses with some form of strap to stop it falling down, last thing I want is someone stepping on my dress and my goods falling out! ∑(゜Д゜;)

Anyways here is where I found these dresses if any of you want to take a look for yourselves. They delivery all over the world ^^ http://www.dressessouthafrica.net/

Setting the Date

Me and My fiance Ryan have been together for five years and been engaged for 3 and a half. When he proposed I was just turning 18 and we both decided we wanted a long engagement. His reason for proposing was of course because he loved me but also because my parents were looking to move to South Africa, which meant I had to move with them. By proposing he was making a promise to my father that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, I know "aww" right! So this meant I could stay.

Anyways we finally feel ready to set the date! Not only because Its been 5 years and I feel more than ready to get married but I genuinely know 100% that me and Ryan are meant to be together. We have been through so much together over the five years we have been together, like.. Moving in with each other, moving to a new house together, getting a puppy together, going on holiday together, fighting and making up (more than once of course) My health problems, his family problems, Emigrating to South Africa together! So I feel like we have been through so much, both good and bad, and made it out alive.

We are feeling that we want to set a date within the next two years. Obviously its going to be a little more difficult now that we are here in South Africa, when all our friends, Ryans whole family and half of my family are over in Scotland. However its going to be a lot cheaper to get married here..
A. Because we currently live near a church and the minister can marry us for free
and B. Because we can use the church facilities as a venue for free

So I've just been excited about the prospects of finally being able to plan, So of course I jumped on the internet and started to get some inspiration. Thought I would share some of the things i'm liking the idea of.

So for shoes I fell in love with these, I love the bow and most importantly, the colour! I like the idea of my colour scheme being this royal blue and grey. I just love colourful shoes with a white dress, just pops! And have Ryan in a grey suit a bright blue tie!

Now I really like this for the centerpieces, maybe with a blue flower though, so inexpensive also and different.

Bridesmaids will be either a light teal powder blue or grey dress, maid of honour will be in a bright blue matching my shoes! I definitely think Ryan will suite a grey suit, white shirt and bright blue tie also matching my shoes EVERYTHING MUST MATCH!

The cakes a hard one because well money doesnt grow on trees and no matter where you go people want an arm and a leg. My mother has said she is more than happy to make my cake for me, yay!
I have to be honest I am in love with cupcake tier cakes, I think they are amazing!
But then I also really love traditional wedding cakes, so I don't know about this yet!

Oh i'm saving the best for last! The Dress, the most important part!!!! The most exciting part... for me!
I love, long dresses with sleeves or straps of some kind, I don't want to be pulling my dress up every two minutes. Comfort is very important to me. I also really love lace. Can't say what kind of dress I will end up wearing on the day, still ages yet before I need to worry about it. But I do really like these dresses. I will most likely have my hair down on the day, because I actually get headaches when I tie my hair up.

So as you can tell I'm just very excited! More wedding ideas and posts to follow haha.
